Essonne Sécurité
Breton armoured-vehicle bodybuilder at Trémeur in the Côtes-d'Armor, set up on 1 November 2000 within Armoric Holding, that designs and integrates ballistic protection, builds armoured bodies for defence, special-forces and civil-security customers and maintains armoured fleets. It bodied the Armée de l'Air's Land Rover 130 command-post and NRBC detection vehicles from 2013.
History
Despite the name, Essonne Sécurité has never been in the Essonne: it is at the Les Dineux industrial estate at Trémeur, in the Côtes-d'Armor, and belongs to Armoric Holding, the group behind France's largest carrier of sensitive materials. Created on 1 November 2000, its core work is ballistic engineering — designing protection for wheeled vehicles, making test targets, manufacturing armoured bodies with laser cutting, automated welding and powder coating, adapting armour to existing vehicles and keeping armoured fleets in service — for the French forces, special forces, civil-security services and naval customers, under ISO 9001.
Its registry vehicle is unarmoured: from 2013 the firm built the tall box bodies of the Véhicule Poste de Commandement on Land Rover Defender 130 chassis for the Armée de l'Air's fire and rescue squadrons, at Cazaux, Saint-Dizier, Nancy-Ochey and Vélizy-Villacoublay among others, with the VPC-SN variant carrying nuclear, biological and chemical detection equipment.
