History
By the 2000s the Danish Army's light 4×4 fleet was Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, and the Land Rover had been gone from Danish service for a decade. It came back in spring 2009 for one unit: the Deployable Communications Modules Company at Haderslev, whose job is to set up and run the communications nodes for a deployed headquarters, received Defender 110 station wagons funded through NATO to replace its 290GD/28 station wagons. The Danish Army Vehicles Homepage records the type: a Puma-era Defender with the Ford 2.4-litre common-rail turbo-diesel of 122 hp (Euro IV), the six-speed Getrag MT 82 gearbox and two-speed transfer case, 4.93 m long, 1.62 m wide, 2.06 m high, 3,500 kg gross, 70 litres of diesel for 350 km, seating for a driver and four, and 0.5 m of unprepared fording. Power steering, air conditioning and heated seats were standard, and an electric Warn winch was mounted in the front bumper.
