East Sussex Haywards Heath Light Rescue Tender

History

East Sussex Fire Brigade took two HCB-Angus-bodied Series IIA 109 Land Rovers in 1970: UPM 350H, an L4P light pump for Uckfield and later Crowborough, and its sister UPM 349H, built as a light rescue tender and stationed at Haywards Heath to carry cutting and lifting gear to road accidents on the A23 and A272. In later life 349H was converted into a lighting unit, its roof floodlights serving night incidents from brigade headquarters at Lewes. The fire-engine-photos.com commentary and a contributor's snowy photograph of UPM 349H outside its station record the pair.

The registry's model is a Series IIA 109 hard top in red with locker doors in the body sides, two roof floodlights and a dome beacon, red wheels and UPM 349H plates; in the game it carries water-pool pickups and the blue-light boost.
