GPO Type 1 · Phase 1
Early Series I Post Office engineering hardtop, with deep bronze green paint, telephone-service door lettering and LUU 990 registration.
History
The archive dates the LUU 990 photograph to June 1951 and lists it among the first 1950 fleet registrations. Although its page title describes the wider Type 1 family as 88-inch, this model follows the early short-body vehicle shown in the photograph, using the 80-inch Series I geometry. Later engineering instructions on the page cover both phases and should not be read as the exact specification of the photographed vehicle.
