HM Coastguard Series III 88 Station Wagon — front three-quarter render

History

HM Coastguard's auxiliary companies of the early 1980s were issued short-wheelbase Series III Land Rovers as cliff and shoreline rescue vehicles: dark blue with a yellow roof for visibility from the air and the sea, MARINE RESCUE lettering on the body, the coastguard crest on the doors and a blue beacon and spot lamps on the roof for night searches. KYU 893X, an X-registration (1981–82) 88-inch station wagon, is one of them, with the spare on the bonnet and a chrome bumper.

Oxford Diecast's 1:43 model 43LR3S007 is the reference here: marine blue body with a yellow roof carrying HM COASTGUARD across the front and along the sides, a blue beacon behind two chrome spot lamps on the roof front, a silver waist line along the doors and rear body, MARINE RESCUE in red on the rear body sides, the crowned CG crest on the front doors, bonnet spare, black steel wheels and white KYU 893X plates. The registry model reproduces that vehicle in the Marine group; the station it served is not given in the source.
