Santana 88 Patrulla Rural — front three-quarter render

History

Garaje Siberia's article on the Guardia Civil's rural patrol Land Rovers describes how the force, whose posts covered the emptiest corners of Spain, took the licence-built Santana 88 into service from the 1960s for the Patrulla Rural: a hard-top 88 in the Guardia Civil's dark green with a cream roof and hard top, the force crest and PATRULLA RURAL on the doors, a single blue rotating beacon, a siren and a radiotelephone — for many mountain and marsh posts the first motor vehicle they had. The photographed example, PGC 4656 T, is a preserved late Series III Santana with the Santana grille and cream steel wheels.

The registry's model is a Santana Series III 88 hard top in green and cream with the door crest and lettering, dome beacon and PGC plates; in the game it carries the blue-light boost.
