Worcestershire Ambulance Service Land Rover 109 — front three-quarter render

History

Before four-wheel-drive vans were common, several county ambulance services kept a coachbuilt Land Rover ambulance for calls off the made-up roads — moorland, farms, race meetings and floods. HUY 944K, registered in Worcestershire in 1971–72, carries the Lomas-type full-width ambulance body on a 109-inch Series chassis with the headlamps in the grille panel: a rounded Luton over the cab with a black AMBULANCE sign, two chrome air horns on the roof front, a blue beacon on the roof, blue lamps on the wing sides, spare on the bonnet, fleet number 53 and the service crest on the body sides. It survives in preservation in Worcestershire Ambulance Service white and was photographed by ukemergency.co.uk on display at the Emergency Services Show.

The registry's model reuses the Lomas coachwork in white with the signs, air horns, beacon and wing lamps, bonnet spare, fleet number and crest, black wheels and black plates; in the game it carries the blue-light boost.
