Kahn Flying Huntsman 110 6×6 — front three-quarter render

History

Afzal Kahn's Chelsea Truck Company built the Flying Huntsman range on the Defender as coachbuilt luxury off-roaders, and the 6×6 double-cab pickup is the most extravagant of them. The Defender 110 double cab is cut behind the rear doors and its chassis extended by 400 mm to take a third axle, with a custom electronic differential and switchable six-wheel drive; a 6.2-litre GM LS3 V8 of 430 bhp replaces the Land Rover diesel, driving through a GM six-speed automatic. The body carries Kahn's wide-arch kit with vented front and rear wings, the X-Lander front grille, a replacement front bumper with lamps, shadow-chrome headlights and a fixed panoramic glass roof, on 8×18 '1945 Retro' alloys in matt black with a gold stripe and Cooper tyres; inside are GTB sports seats in leather with wool inserts and machined-aluminium pedals.

The queue's photograph shows the car in Santorini Black from above at the Chelsea Truck Company's premises: the double cab, short bed with a sports bar, the twin rear axles under wide arches, black wheels with red rim stripes — this particular car wears red rather than gold — side steps and the Kahn grille. Kahn built the Flying Huntsman 6×6 to order; how many were made is not stated in the source.
